The year 1992 was when Amanda Bossard began her study of marine biology in Anchorage in Alaska at the University of Alaska Pacific. Bossard started her commercial seafood career in 1999, when she began working on the vessel F/V Sunset. This 65' schooner converted to an ice-fish tender was operated by Murat Aritan. Aritan has been involved in commercial fishing since 1993. Bossard, who is the wife of Aritan she has joined forces in order to claim their respective industries. Both of them are proponents of saving and maximizing the use of sustainable resources within the industry of seafood. Otolith was established at the time of Philadelphia through Bella Bossard, now the mother of two children aged 3 and 1, Bossard. She and her husband are separated by 5 months and more for her to concentrate on her financial goals and the environment. In July 2016, Bossard as well as her daughters Isabella age 12 and Andre age 10 Andre age 10 are back in Southeast Alaska annually each summer as deckhands during the wild salmon harvest in summer. The two-month period is when Bossard and Isabella will use hooks and lines to fish for their desired salmon. Aritan will then sell their catch for processing locally.
